John F. Imsdahl began his real estate career as a real estate salesperson, and real estate company owner and manager, in March 1976, shortly after earning a BA Degree, with Honors, from the University of California, at Berkeley. He was a very successful real estate agent and broker associate from 1976 to 1982, owning or operating several top San Francisco real estate offices and companies.

In 1982, Mr. Imsdahl began Bay Business Consultants, an appraisal company, where he was considered a Superior Court qualified expert witness for small business appraisals and conducted several SFR, 2-4 units, and apartment appraisals for attorney's, CPA's and lenders.

In 1986, while BBC remained open, Mr. Imsdahl accepted employment with Great Western Bank as an appraiser with the Millbrae District Loan Office. As a Millbrae DLO appraiser, Mr. Imsdahl averaged over 50 appraisals per month of SFRs, 2-4 units, and apartments. By 1988, Mr. Imsdahl was moved to the West Bay Regional Loan Administration as an appraisal instructor and assistant to Regional Vice President, Chuck Lewis in Novato. As the Regional Loan Production Sales Manager, his duties included training of all Loan Officers, Underwriters, Fraud Division, staff, and Regional Chief Appraisers on subjects including underwriting, loan packaging, ARMs and other loan products, and a speciality seminar entitled "How to Really Read a URAR" a course that was a "must see" seminar, including two 3 hour approved DRE courses to Realtors. Finally, at Great Western Bank, Mr. Imsdahl supervised the loan production in 18 offices from Palo Alto to Ukiah, including Napa and Lake Counties, in a region that funded a 1989 high of over 8000 loans and over $650,000,000.

In November 1991, on his fifth anniversary with Great Western Bank, and realizing that Washington Mutual would buy Great Western Bank, Mr. Imsdahl returned full time to BBC, which is now "IMSDAHL'S APPRAISALS". Since 1991, Mr. Imsdahl has completed well over 13,000 appraisals for mortgage bankers, mortgage brokers, banks, credit unions, estates and courts. He is VA, FHA approved and approved with every conventional lender and credit union. He is one of the first in the State of California to receive a CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER'S LICENSE, License number AR005459.

Finally, Mr. Imsdahl served his country in combat during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. He served with D Troop, 2/17 Cavalry of the 101st Airborne Division in 3rd Platoon. His unit was one of the most decorated recon units in Vietnam, with numerous Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, and a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, Mike Fitzmaurice, also of the 3rd Platoon. Mr. Imsdahl is a 20% disabled Veteran from his service in this unit.
